Default Smallest Pulley Novi1000 Can Handle

Right now im about to get tuned with a N1000 Blower and a SOS 3' Pulley

later i want to upgrade to the N1200 Blower but for now what is the smallest pulley the N1000 Can handle?? Can it go lower than 3' since the SOS website only have the 3' as the smallest

I've heard people running 2.8's from ASP or something

Thanks in advance

I believe at this point you are either just slightly or just about to overspin the blower. A few guys (99SH) did toy with intentionally overspinning the blower but using a waste gate setup so that they would build to max boost sooner, then stay at that boost level till redline (resembling more of a turbo setup). It was an involved and complicated process, but they proved it was possible.

The issue you will start combating is belt slip. Guys with smaller pulleys started modifying them to have more holding power by slotting them, coating them, etc. (S2000Junky). Some went with a different diameter crank pulley as well to help with that issue.

I'm sure Junky will chime in, he had a N1000 more than maxed at one point.

yeah, I had a 3" on my nv1000 and belt slip was the problem.

3" on mine had no issues with slipping. If ur worried about slip cut some grooves across ur pulley

Here's my 2.8" grooved pulley. This one also has an anti-slip coating on it

Looks nice!! Any belt slippage??

where did you get that 2.8? how many psi' are you pushing with it?

Yes, slipped all day long - even with the special Carbinite coating and the grooved pulley. I would bring 4 sets of spare belts to the track for every event. If I wanted to, I could snap belts in under 1 lap - easy.

I fought belt slippage for over a year. Tried various blower & crank pulley diameters. I finally resolved the slippage with a 10-rib setup; 8" crank pulley w/4" blower pulley with double idlers. Some pictures here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/103...y-setup-wpics/

When you decide on your setup, give the guys at ASP Racing a call. They can set you up with any configuration you need for a great price.

Peak boost is about 20-22 PSI; however I'm running a wastegate and capping it around 14 psi.

I no longer slip on the track

I have been debating on going with a smaller pulley but did not want to start having belt slip. I run a 3.4" pulley with zero slip for over a year on the same belt.

The 3.4" pulley has been good to me, but I have been debating on taking my chances on a 3.2" or even a 3.0" pulley.

I want to decrease my 8500 rev limit to around 8100 and increase the boost at the same time. Essentially I want to shift up the powerband without needing to spin the motor too high.

99SH, could ASP make a slightly larger crank pulley? Same concept as the SOS component that you bolt on, but larger in diameter? Do they have the CAD data to turn it, or would I have to model it up in CAD myself? I would pay a pretty penny for an additional 3 or so psi. I'm currently at 445whp and would love to reach 500

Thanks, Voya
