Default Should I replace fuel pump?

So I think my fuel pump has been acting up. It's a brand new AEM pump. And after driving for a while it seems to "get tired" or overheat. I suspect the stock wiring is the culprit. I remember in my car audio days running a BIG amp on a small 8awg wire would overheat the amp from working too hard on the small wire. I think the same may be happening with my fuel pump.

After a lot of research, I find that I should wire it directly to the battery. I ordered an SOS wiring kit today and will be doing the install as soon as the kit arrives.

May I have done damage to the fuel pump while straining it? Should I just toss a new fuel pump in there while I have everything out?

Just some recommendations appreciated.

Friend locally went through two new AEM pumps. They kept failing and delivering low pump pressure.

Oh boy...I'm about to install one of the AEM E85 320lph pumps soon too...any others out there with the same issue? Has anyone contacted AEM or SOS to inquire about this? I will be upgrading my wiring too with the SOS single pump kit.

Should I just order a Full Blown 340 and call it a day?

...thoughts?

Other friend here has been running the AEM since like January with no issues, so it's really hard to say.

FB 340 is rock solid and 100% swap into stock hanger. No need to f@#k around with trying anything else unless you need more then a 340 can supply.

Bigger isnt always better, id be reluctant to go above a 340 unless you really have to. Fuel cavitation and heating becomes an issue on the bigger pumps. 450 is really big. In my experience, the 340 works seamlessly on a stock N/A set up to my 450whp and should be just fine for about 550whp. It covers a really good working range with no drawbacks. But anyone can feel free to experiment beyond this since its your money and frustration.

I didn't use the pump I got with my TTS kit, just went with a walbro 255 and no problems or need to change wiring. Depends on your setup.
