Default Secondary Air Control valve

Hi,

I have the greddy kit but running an AEM EMS. Just noticed today that the secondary air control valve has come lose some how. The electrics and 2 vaccumm lines are still attached but it looks like the control "knob" looking thing has broken off. Its just a little valve thing that is now open to atmosphere. What the hell does a secondary air control valve do? Also where the control "knob" thing was should I seal it up or do I have to get another secondary air control valve to replace the broken one?

The "knob" thing is just a filter. It's part of the air injection system that the AEM EMS doesn't support. You could remove the entire system and it won't effect engine operation since you are using the EMS.

The only thing the air injection is used for is to bring the catalytic converter up to temp quickly at cold start.

remove them. you can remove the whole system, up to the thing on the intake manifold.

you'll need to make a plate like so:

Thanks Jbell. So the primary and secondary air control valves are joined. Will take the whole lot off then!

Or, you can buy a pre-made plate from Puddy for $20. InlinePro has a nice looking black one, too... You can also yank out the air pump that is under the driver's side headlight (in the faux brake duct area).
