Chris, thanks for the quick answer. I am really interested in the SL model. I know you guys are probably super busy right now, but do you think the details of the SL model will be out while your introductory pricing is still going on? Thanks!

Chris-

Forgive me if this is a stupid question... Does SoS offer any sort of pre wired Plug-and-play harness for either of the stand alone engine managements. Reversability is fairly important to me. It's very possible that I might have to return the car to stock engine management once a year. If it's possible to simply unplug the stand alone harness, plug the stock stuff back in, swap pullies, injectors, and FPR, and.... do whatever it is I need to do (insert angel smilie)... that would be a HUGE plus for me.

I haven't gotten terribly in depth with an S2000 before or used an AEM or other option. I did install stand alone in my VW VR6 turbo though and it was absolutely not reversable without MAJOR work.

The AEM EMS uses the same factory harness and Hondata K-Pro includes an adaptor, so there is no cutting required with either.

The Hondata standalone requires installation of some sensors which take around 4 hours to install making it a more expensive solution. It does however offer OBD2 compliance which is a pretty big benefit.

Knowing this, you can choose one of the two based on your needs. We are offering the ability to upgrade to a standalone system for much less than if you were to buy the parts separately. If you have interest in this, please drop us a line. These details will be added to the website within a week allowing everyone to get familiar with the system with out complexing the product for the time being.

cheers,

Chris,

If we buy a kit now or before Feb 27th to get the special promotion, can we get teh carb benefits even though we bought it before all that happens?

Any estimated carb legal status? Will it eventually be carb legal for sure (not talking about the tuner kits)?

Right now this is pretty much the only thing stopping me from purchasing, I would hate to buy a complete kit and then SOS decides not to do carb or realizes it's going to take like a really long time.

Answer as best you can because i know you don't know an exact carb date.

Thanks
Joe

We've already had quite a few questions on this, so we are providing the "stage 2" systems now. The introductory discount does apply to these discounted prices, so this is quite an opportunity.

Thanks for the info Chris. North Carolina's method of emissions checks are pretty rough. They plug a computer into the car's ECU and check for codes. If the ECU is out of the loop, throwing even a minor code, or if the engine is swapped (B series swap in a civic for instance don't have matching VIN number), it won't pass. Unless AEM EMS will allow for a code free reading from the ECU, I don't think it will work.

Either way, from what you describe, it seems like a fairly easy procedure to put an even SEMed car back on the factory ECU.

Depending on the savings over doing it in steps, I might just go stand alone right from the get-go then. It's going to have to be after we get the tax return though, so hopefully the sale hasn't run it's course by then.

Thank you again for your time. I look forward to getting the ball rolling.

sounds like you guys have as many hoops to jump through as we do out here in California...

Damn, I thought WE were the nanny state capital of the world
guess Immona have to write my congressperson and have them work on that...

this is a really good looking kit too... the intercooler looks very OEM --- nice job

hi Joe --

That is a very good question. We do plan to apply for CARB exemption for California customers. Systems would be retroactively covered as long as they are identical to the approved system's components as well as installation method.

That being said, I want to know that we have no clear time line on when this will happen. There have been recent changes to how the Air Resource Board processes excemption requests. The process has become much more lengthy (10+ months) and much more costly (over $12,000) including having to give up a car possibly as long as 10 months. Since we do not have a clear time frame, you should consider this before purchasing.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

cheers,
-- Chris
