Default Same Tune on Different Car?

I'm buying a used turbo kit with an ems tuned by church. It came off of a MY00 just like mine and every mod will be the same. Do you think the existing tune will work?

Honestly, I do not really think you are going to get very many replies to this question. Specifically because messing around with Engine tune is a very serious matter. I am sure there are numerous invidivuals who don't really want to answer that incase something does go wrong.

However, if I were in your situation I would use the tuned EMS as a base map - just to start up the car & get it to the shop for further tuning. Every engine is different, using his map without having it tweaked with by a certified tuner could be devestating to your motor.

Better safe than sorry, I'd take it to a tuner and have him just use it as a "base" map and tune from there.

It would be dependant on how conservative the tune was initially. Personally I wouldn't run with it, without at least some dyno time.

My wideband will be connected to it so I am going to log the a/f and knock. The only thing different is that he had Invidia exhaust and I have oem so I assume I will be running a bit richer.

Will it work? Yes.

Will it be ideal? No.

If everything is as similar as you say then I concur with the others. It will be a great base map.

I'm hoping to use it as a map to at least get home from the shop that's letting me use their lift and tools. It would also be great if I could get to a tuner. The problem is there are no tuners that aren't several hundred miles away from here... I'm wondering if I should just flatbed the car somewhere.

If you really must drive it, I would add fuel and pull some timing and drive very gingerley .....

The problem is in 700 miles you are going to be tempted .....

Dont forget to change your plugs for a cooler range (and take spare plugs to the tuner in case you badly foul the current set on the way to the tuner)

I plan on using the NGK 7173's from my supercharger. You know I was thinking about it and maybe I would be better keeping my ultimate emanage until I can get the EMS tuned. I could just add more fuel down low and pull out 5' of timing anywhere above 2500rpm. Is that a safer plan? I have never really looked at the EMS software so I would have no idea how to even pull the timing out/ add fuel.

Every car is different. It should be good enough for you to get to the tuner but get it retuned! Better safe than sorry.
