If it's only a popped HG from time to time with pushing this motor to 700 whp and running it on the weekends, then i can definitely deal with that.

Get a cheap daily driver and you'll lose a lot of the headaches.

BTW, I'm selling my VERY reliable 98 civic EX for $2200 if you're interested (Keep reading to find out why I'm only asking $2200) It has 256,000 miles but runs and drives great; no oil burn, 34 mpg all around driving, etc. Everything works and I took very good mechanical care of it and i have the reciepts of the upkeep on it. I just spent $1300 on it about a year ago doing the timing belt and all sorts of other things so it would stay reliable. The body isnt too bad either but i was hit by a guy with no insurance in the passenger quarter about 8 months ago and so it pissed me off and I just stopped caring to wash and wax it for the past year but it still looks pretty good for a 98 minus the dented quarter. Not a huge hit and $1200 of bodywork (it would probably need a new quarter) will get it looking great again if you wanted to fix it. I just decided not to put the money in it since I had just spent $1300 on the mechanical upkeep a year ago and decided to just drive it with the dented quarter. Let me know if you may be interested.

E85 is awesome, but IT is not C16.

Thats a better way of typing what I meant. C16>E85
Actually e85, because of its cooling properties and excellent detonation supression, is more comparable to Q16 even though its not as high of an octane.

i think im dead-on!

this looks very wrong joey. if the ones in the back were indeed open, you would be able to see the piston wall in half of it and then open the other half.

its not about angles. its about not having any sort of gradient in the silver color meaning there isnt any virtical change in the metal like you see on the holes for the head bolts. the spaces where the passages are open on their top part of the gasket look like solid aluminum to me.

you can see where the piston wall ends in the front holes and even part of cyl one, but the back ones you cant even see the wall at all. and the cyl wall is oblong so it would def stick out in the back if it sticks out on the sides. look closer.
Is that an actual picture of Joey's HG? If so, that may explain a lot and that is way wrong! My IP 3mm HG has all the same holes in it as whats in the OEM HG.

I've heard Q16 is a little bit of a pain to tune. Since its oxygenated, if you run it rich, the wideband will pick up the unburnt oxygenated fuel and show it lean when its really rich.

C16/Q16, etc. also doesn't change blends on you like E85 does. I like E85, but if I had cash coming out of my ears, C16 would be my fuel.

Do they actually have a tester and can tell you the exact Ethanol content? I was under the impression that they changed to the winter blend without even telling the attendants.

I'm sure Joeys gasket was made correct, I honestly think the lighting is playing tricks with the picture.

He had minitoyota put it in and this guy has installed a TON of them (so I have heard via the interweb).. He would have noticed a problem easy to see like that.

I'm not sure. The Thortons gas station I get it from here knows when it gets switched to the lower grade e70 and all of us e85 users know the round about times that they switch. My buddy said he also has a tester if we want to test it every so often.

it was like the 4th pic down in your thread amongst a bunch of others.

it looks incorrectly made to me. and if it is, there is the reason for your overheating.
