Rotrex setup, engine rebuild options
Hi all,
I have a TTS performance Rotrex compressor kit on my car (400+ whp). The engine is the F20C (VSA) in stock form, apart from valve springs / retainers and BC stage 2 cams. I have just bought a second engine to have as spare, since I often track the car. What do you suggest I do?
My thoughts are to rebuild the spare engine to 2.2 in order to have more low end torque and install it on the car.

- Keep the spare engine stock as well and rebuild the other one (if it has an issue in the future)
- Rebuild the spare engine now and install it only if something goes wrong with the current one
- Rebuild the spare engine and install it on the car now (2.0, 2.2 or 2.4 litre?)

Keep them both as stock as possible to be honest. F series engines are pretty stout for boost. I personally track my turbo one on stock engine. Kinktut on here also does. I am right at 400whp and going up to 550WHp and keeping my engine stock. A buddy of mine is running 770whp and all he has is a built head for insurance. Stock cams though.

I'm at just under 400 hp sc, I had my head built with supertech valve train and the head decked, it lasted maybe 1500 miles before the valves were tightening up and I could smell coolant. Took it back and they agreed to rebuild it..... iv put I'd say less then 5000 miles on it since then and the head gasket is already leaking pushing exhaust gasses into the coolant. This will be the 3 rebuild...... am I right to assume my head might be junk now???
Billman says you can NOT deck these heads as it will throw the timing off and the head will be trash..... can anyone chime in on this?
The shop I use is a Nsx, S2000 specialist shop and have done many supertech s2000 heads.

I trust billman. Sucks that your build has been bad luck. Get an untouched used head. Maybe let them put your valve train in it and then enjoy. Less is more with these motors.

I've had the car for almost 4 years and I'm about to give up on it.... it's at the shop more then it's at home. The car is usually spotless inside and out... change all the fluids my self and try to stay on top of all maintenance and issues as they come up but shit.... I can't keep up. Iv put 12,000 miles on the car since I bought it!!!!!
My question is..... do you not surface the head on these motors. Do you just pull one off and slap it on the next with a new gasket?????
My advice to r5turbo would be to not touch it and run it till it breaks... I wish I would have.
