My car occasionally smokes white, but seems related to when I get on full boost, shortly after, and then goes away. My car never smokes at startup though.

or just cold pipes, but I don't think that's the issue here.
Quite a few synthetic oils also burn white.

I can't imagine any reason for it to only happen in reverse. Maybe you only notice it when you're in reverse? Top down and you smell it before seeing it since you're reversing, then don't smell it and don't look for it when you're moving forward?

^-- i was going to say that,

reverse = you're moving into the exhaust
forward = away so it might dissipate b4 you can see it.

also white smoke might not always be cold pipes, if you have water in the pipes like after a foggy night or rainy night it takes a while before the exhaust gases actually heat up enough to make the water evaporate

yeah this happend after the car has been on and shut off, then restarted a few minutes later, very strange

who knows, I just switched to AMSOIL but with Mobil 1 I burned maybe .5 quart every 1,000 miles, 1 quart at the absolute max, so even with a turbo my car really does'nt burn much oil, so I guess thats good
