I'm about to purchase one of these kits.

Which is the best for the novi 1000?

I assume the most expensive one (Paxton NOVI ABEC 7 Ceramic hybrid (62K) repair kit)?

http://www.superchargerrebuild.com/?page_id=3

Can some tell me how to find out which version of the novi 1000 I have, as above it says there is a serial number which states which version it is, so I can confirm the output shaft seal size.

Someone must have bought this kit recently and rebuilt theirs.

Thanks

from what i read, there are different variations of the novi1000 and different parts needed to rebuild them. do some research and get the right parts.

Yeah that's what I've been doing but there is no information that I can find.

If I can find out which model I have I should be able to confirm which size seals I need, hence the post on an old thread.

With the amount of Novi 1000i kits being run on here I'm amazed that there isn't more information.

I would send it for a rebuild at Paxton but by the time you add shipping from the UK and tax I'm best off buying a new 1200 blower, but I have just had the car mapped again and I'm happy with what I have! + plus I want to rebuild it myself.

It's the mechanical gland seal which is difficult to get think you may have had the model as me.

Did you get car mapped again, with new exhaust? How'd it go? Anymore power?

Thursday mate. I'll keep you posted.

My SC came with an old style mount plate which I have just remade so I assume mine is an early blower model.

It was sold to me with 3400 miles on it off here, but I'm starting to think otherwise! The seals are good at the moment but I convinced the bearings are noisy!

There are three different kits avalible from here:

I just need to know which are the preferred bearings and what size output shaft seal I need - 30 or 35mm. I was hoping I could tell by a serial number rather than splitting the blower as mapping is so close!

Send me an email mate, i measured the gland seal and took a photo of it i maybe able to dig it out and that should sort you out if yours is the same as my old one.

The novi's are a little noisy.

I think the only things you can physically check for are shaft play and if you see any oil seeping out or collecting around the turbine. These units are a little grindy sounding under normal operation; its just the nature of gear-driven centrifugal blowers. And they do produce a higher pitch whine/whistle which is normal, but if you hear a loud squeal or a rhythmic chirp/squeak/squeal it could be a bad bearing somewhere. Bad bearings usually lead to shaft play, so if the shaft has any right/left play or in/out play (axial) then there could be internal issues. And make sure you don't see any oil leaks around the outer casing.
