Thumbs up R200 Differential Kit Experiences

Well I am at a cross roads, I have some new found torque and should have more soon. I am starting to throughly plan my drive train upgrades. I have an R200 diff kit already but I have heard lots of stories about the problems with the Drive Shaft shop axles and drive shaft.

Question 1:

Have you had any problems with the Drive Shaft Shop axles or drive shaft? IE: Part Longevity, Fitment, Balance Problems, Breakage........

Question 2:

I don't anticipate more than 350Ftlb of torque and I am not going to run anything but street tires, looking to upgrage to a 275 or larger, if I use a PuddyDad rear end will the factory axles and driveshaft hold up?

Mase told me the same which is what got me thinking about it.

What options did you take from PuddyDad

Also, I haven't heard how did the car do this go around with Mase?

i have had the diff on for 15000 boosted miles, and ask mase how i drive the car

sorry what did u mean by ' Also, I haven't heard how did the car do this go around with Mase? '

I thought Mase was just in the UK and he was going to work on your car some more.

I never had any problems with the DSS axles or driveshaft. Well, there intro level stuff, 2.9 or whatever they call it, broke. But there 5.9 or whatever they called it, I never had any issues with.

I did break a couple of R200's though.

I dont dig or drag race mine on the strip, but I do have the DSS 2.9 axles that are supposed to be good for around 650 whp and with 440 tq on mine before, I havent had any problems with the axles or R200 diff.

I know it's slightly off topic since your talking specifically about the R200.

Here is the reasoning why I went with the PuddyMod

-Cost is slightly higher, I believe the last time I talked to Ben, his highest cost build is around $1000 less than what the R200 is.

-PuddyMod has great support, he will take care of ANYTHING that goes wrong with your diff. Although its a hassle to drop the diff and ship it to him...It's well worth it. To me at least.

-DSS replacement axles are $1000, OEM S2K axles are fairly cheap ($100 @ NAPA w/ Lifetime Warranty). I really wouldn't want to replace a DSS axle.

-The R200 does seem to be able to handle high RPM lauches, the PuddyMod diff requires you to be a much more careful driver.

My last point is that my diff has preformed flawlessly, I do HPDE events in it, without any problems. Customer service w/ Ben @ PuddyMod is the best in terms of working things out with you. Hope that helps you just a little bit.
