Default Question about SC

Saw that thread on a Vortech SC with AC at $3900.,and decided to get one!
My car stock,is a 13.7-13.9 with a few minor mods(CAI,Jr Filter etc)and has around 200 RWHP.
I know the SC would add around 100 H.P.
Reports on SCd cars show them at about 13.3 to 13.6 E.T.(stock gearing)
Can somebody explain why,such a small E.T.improvement,with 50% more H.P.?
What kind of E.T.can I expect from my car with an SC?

The s/c doesnt hit full boost until redline and doesnt start boosting until about 5k so the 100 more hp is only for a split second.

Youd see a bigger difference if you compared the 2 cars from 0-130 mph.

With a good launch you could break into 12's with a trap speed about 109-110.

considering that during a quarter mile run, you are between 6-9k most of the time, it does improve things.

if you launch right.

ET is determined by traction, and trap speed by power. If you're just looking to drop you ET, bolt on a set of slicks.

He did not run 12's w/ the stock pulley... or at least that's what he told me. I did see a slip for a 12.7, but it was not on a stock kit.

I ran the 12.7 on 6.6psi and then got kicked out of the track.

What I did when I had the stock pulley was when the light turned green I would inch a little foward to set off the timer, then launch and go. I don't actually have a time slip for the 12.9 but if you take the difference in the 60' times and subtract it from the 15.xx second 1/4 time I had then it would be a 12.9-13.0 pass at 108-109 counting that the original 60' times were 2.0-2.1. I had to do this because the track I went to required a roll cage for anything lower than a 13.49 in a convertable. Now if someone could lend me their hardtop...... ...... then I could run all day long with no worries.

Either way, since the vortech boosts around 7psi stock, you should have no problem hitting 12's. Launch at like 2,500 - 3,000rpms and feather out the clutch. Yes it will burn it a little but its not like you're doing it a million times. If you really want to be carefull on your diff and axles, which you should be , then hold the e-brake, hold a steady rev and barely engage the clutch so that everything will get into place, and then do the launch thing on green while letting go of the ebrake at the same time. Works like a charm
