I spoke to Patrick at PTE. He said not to use any type of restrictor with this turbo as the oil film created by the feed is essential. He said to use a -3an feed and just make sure the drain is sufficient to get the oil away after. I'm using a -12 on my drain which he said was a great idea as the volume inside the drain line will be larger and therefore less change off a back up. I guess at the end of the day its a suck it and see affair. The point of him saying that you dont want a restrictor was clear. If there is not enough of a film for the journal to spin on then its just as bad as too much. Im going to use what he said as a starting point. Restrictors are normally saved for BB turbo's.

I think your problems are solved now.
Glad to be helpfull Andres.
Brock if you still help with your car I will be able to do all the work but it will have to be after the 24th of this months since I'm going out of town. Call me and let me know and that was good that you decided to go with the 62/62bb

Thanks, but racelab ended up taking the car in after i warned them of leaving. Really it was only because they are so close and your shop is so far, but you guys seem to have a good rep so I will definitely keep you in mind in the long run, especially when I have to start doing reinforcement work on the drive train and diff. Thanks for taking the time for that estimate. we'll keep in touch

Someone correct me or agree with me, but I've heard from numerous respectable sources that the newer s2k's do not need turbo timers, correct?
I'm not sure if this is the same case with you, but I have an 08 and they said the turbo timer issue in my case is a waste of money...
anybody want to add to this?

Paassmanss2kny is absolutely right. Keeping the engine running @ idle before shut down keeps oil flowing through the turbo while its still hot allowing time to cool down.

ok, but I guess I meant the newer turbos- they don't need them?? I forgot why...
like when I bought my mase kit- they said i didn't need one. numerous shops said it- something about the oil flow...
(I obviously know nothing about this aspect- lol)

I have heard this too. But as far as I'm concerned its personal opinion with no research to back it up. I certainly wouldn't thrash the car and then shut it straight off. I always run the civic down gently after fast runs.
