PPG Synchro Box - Better than you thought?
#72
. I ended up pulling the trigger and also put in a Science of Speed carbon twin disk. For the better part of 2016 I fought drivetrain issues. Car wouldn't shift sometimes, grind alot, etc. Turned out my clutch had some issues. SOS was great and got to the bottom of it, but for the most part the calendar year of 2016 was wasted.

Long story short, I got one of the first of the "gen 2" if you will. The clutch is made by RPS and they started using a different style release bearing after Tilton had a patent expire. The RPS version didn't work well, SOS went back to the original style and all is well.

I have the Samsonas 6 spd that I am getting ready to swap in, but I keep contemplating going back to the stock trans and PPG set instead. Mine is still a street beast that will hit the track at times, so I still want the nice shifting like the stock trans but also be able to beat on it hard at the track without any worry at over 1000 whp..

I recently picked up a PPG Helical synchro gearbox. So far I am happy with it, just sorting out some clutch related issues with it.
