what was the issue with the clutch exactly?

Long story short, I got one of the first of the "gen 2" if you will. The clutch is made by RPS and they started using a different style release bearing after Tilton had a patent expire. The RPS version didn't work well, SOS went back to the original style and all is well.

How did the PPG set hold up over the last 4 years since this post was created?

The PPG trans are just fine! the S2k trans has a bad name only because shops want to make money on swap kits. Uless you have an all out race car you dont need to do a trans swap.

You still running this trans today?

I have the Samsonas 6 spd that I am getting ready to swap in, but I keep contemplating going back to the stock trans and PPG set instead. Mine is still a street beast that will hit the track at times, so I still want the nice shifting like the stock trans but also be able to beat on it hard at the track without any worry at over 1000 whp..

PPG does not offer the gearset anymore. Last I checked, they will make 10 sets at 10,000 per set.

I recently picked up a PPG Helical synchro gearbox. So far I am happy with it, just sorting out some clutch related issues with it.
