Default Poor Drivablity with Thicker Head Gaskets

Well I have been battling with poor drivablity which is not tune related. I have a miss at low load cruising around town. It is not ignition/timing related or fuel from what I can tell. When Mase tuned the car he attributed it to poor combustion chamber efficancy and possibly cylinder to cylinder leakage.

Anyone else have the issue of hesitation under light loads.

This promted me to order a set of new pistons from SOS to lower the compression to 8.9:1 with a factory HG. While I have the car down I was going to send the injectors back to T1 Race (Tony) and have them cleaned and inspected to make sure the injectors were not the issue. In talking with T1 they first told me they have had NO issues like this with the ID1000's and recomended that I not mess with the pistons and just throw the factory HG back and forget the pistons. He thought that a car with 91 OCT and my setup could still put down good numbers on pump gas. The problem is that my definition of good numbers is 500WHP on 91 oct.So I have seen a lot of cars dyno but I have yet to see a car break 435WHP on 91 oct with a factory HG.

If there is anyone that has made more w/o meth injection I would be very interested to here about it.

I made 430whp on 93 octane.

Due to boost creep on an 8lb spring.

430 on 93 is plausible. I just hope they tuned ya for it.

It only happens once in a while though and is only a slight stumble or blip at partial throttle, then it's fine. It really doesn't bother me at all. Wonder if it's worse with your guys 3mm gaskets.

We all have the same light load hesitation which for me is always between 3000-4000RPM. So far I have tried the following and it is always the same. My guess is that all of the cars with head gaskets have the problem but not everyone notices the hesitation.

Race Gas w/ Advanced timing
Retarded Timing
Hotter Plugs (7 Heat Range)
Larger and Smaller Spark Plug Gaps
Custom Made High Discharge Ignition System
Large Capacitors in the Coil Power Wiring
Different Dwell Settings
Checked For Timing Drift and Accuracy
Pulled the Injectors to Look for Trash in the Inlet
Valve Adjustments
Leaner and Richer AFR’s
Different Cams
Different Exhaust Manifolds
Compression & Leak Down Test
Different Head Gaskets
