Default Opinion on manifold heat wrap,

How many of you have your manifold wrapped with heat insulation tape? Will this make the manifold crack over time or not?

I believe that eventually will wear down the metal and will cause the manifold to crack but i want to hear your opinion or your feedback on this

Thanks
Chris

Lets say for those that have Full Race or Pfab ELT or ELMT manifold. Any of you have the manifold heat wrapped??

It is near impossible to "heat wrap" the PFAB manifold it has too many tight bends. I would get it coated with Swaintech if anything, however it voids the warranty so I don't think Im going to coat the manifold. I just removed everything and anything on that side of the engine bay

Why would coating the manifold void the warranty? If anything, granted the manifold is also coated on the inside, it will protect the manifold welds from cracking.

Only JetHot coats the inside, and to be honest I have heard not so great things about them (depending on where you get it coated it sometimes flakes offon the inside)

Heating just the outside keeps the heat inside the manifold longer so I guess its more stress on the metal?, but yea I specifically asked Pang and though he does recommend to get it coated, it does in fact void the warranty

Coating the manifold may void the warranty depending on manufacturer because it makes the manifold un-repairable in the event of cracking.

And yes you certainly can heat wrap a PFAB ELTM. Here is a shot of what I did. It just takes patience.

That stays cool enough that the zip ties don't melt? Are those some sort of special high temp zip ties?
