Default Oil Return on Timing cover

Ok quick question, I am ordering a turbo kit.
The kit show that the oil return will need to be tapped into the side of the motor about 1.5" above the oil pan

The kit uses a log style setup, where the turbo sits under the log manifold and the WG above.

I did not really want to tap the side of the block, and have been told that oil return through the oil drain plug was not much better..

So I started to look at a timing chain oil return cover, found one

My question is about the length between the timing cover tap and the turbo, will this be a problem?

Any help is appreciated

Cheers!

Will be no problem. I had my Greddy kit setup this way. Just make sure the oil is always going down hill with no restrictions.

my thought was if the car sat on a driveway or something that was uphill if this would cause me issue or if there would be enough presure to push still..

Pressure isn't an issue on the return side of the line

Well I am happy to hear it as i think the pipe that comes with the kit is like almost 1 foot but I will need like a 2-3 foot to go from turbo and slightly around to the cover fitting.

Should I try to have slack so no sharp curves or keep it tight in the length for shortest distance possible?

You could run a swivel AN fitting:

thats a great idea I was thinking the same I was looking at a 45 deg as I know it will clear the edge but if i can fit a 150 deg i might go that way.

My guess is that it will need just about 2 feet maybe a little more as it had to go on an angle from about outside center of motor to turn into front of motor just above the oil pan..

Thanks guys for the feedback, if anyone else has this kinda setup or has a pic feel free to post as the more info the better and I could not find threads on this..

Cheers!

The length won't make a difference, it's all in the slope and using gravity to your advantage. Any low spot will cause a backup and harm to the turbo.

My turbo is out front and going to timing cover, not a log...but you get the idea.

yahh my thought was related to the distance from a log setup as its more in the back and down low already
