Default Oil Residue around turbo and oil lines

Just did an oil change and noticed this around the turbo. I haven't noticed any oil leaks around the floor and normally have to put in a quart of oil once every two months. Just want to make sure the turbo isn't going bad.

Thanks

Oh yea. You def have a leak. Looks like it one of the seals on the turbo but its not a steady leak. Seems like it stops(If there's no oil on your driveway). How long have you been running this setup?

I have had the turbo around 10k miles. I checked my driveway this morning and I didnt see any leaks. Should I check the oil line hose to ensure its tight? If it is a turbo seal, can I run it like this until it breaks. Its a gt30 dual ball bearing turbo. Ive heard these cant be repaired.

Is there a way to verify if it is the turbo seal. Maybe looking at the intake air filter pipe or downpipe?

Pull your filter and take a look inside the compressor housing, I'm willing to bet there will be oil slung all through there, also check your BOV, if its getting that bad there should be some residue there as well.

Ill pull it today after work and check it out. If there is oil, can I run like this for a while until I get a replacement?

Yes you can run it. Honestly most turbo cars tend to leak a little oil around the compressor. I work on lots of turbo cars at my shop and I'd say more than half with any miles show signs of oil leakage at the turbo. Had an Audi in the other day with 80k miles and the turbos were covered in oil and the insides of the chargepipes were actually wet. Car still ran great though and boosted just fine. The customer just had us clean it up and he drove on. A little oil seepage is really not a terrible issue. As far as the turbo, a ball bearing CHRA must be replaced, only journal bearing turbo's are rebuilt. You may want to check and see if your running the proper restrictor as too much oil pressure can cause some oil loss as well. The pictures don't look like anything to be too concerned about though. Just monitor it closely. If the turbo is going bad it'll get progressively worse.

Great to hear that its normal for a bit of a leak. Ill check the filter pipe either way just in case and clean it out if I see some oil. I got the kit used so I'm assuming it was the original equipment from inline pro. Turbo seems to be running fine and I only blow out smoke at WOT certain times.
