Default oil pump upgrade?

is there an oil pump upgrade for the s2k?? I have looked for a little bit and haven't found one. my motor is getting built and they told me it's on the way out might not even be good now. a new one is 220. I don't want to buy a used one and worry about using that and blowing my brand new block. but i was wondering if there is an upgraded one or is the stock one good enough I never lost pressure since i was turboed but figured might was well upgrade if while i am at getting a new one.

I have never heard of an upgraded oil pump for our cars but I'm sure someone makes them. I would think that a new stock oil pump would be just fine though. Its always a good rule to change the oil pump when rebuilding an engine. How many miles were on the oil pump that the engine build guy said was going bad?

just over 100k but 60k was boosted.... and i blew a line right before i pulled the motor to build it so i know i lost pressure a little guess it damaged the pump a little too. he said it should still work just not the best condition he has seen.

If you search it's been discussed and it seems we have one of the highest flowing pumps that Honda makes OEM. RSX guys like our pump so much they have even adapted it for their engine. http://www.clubrsx.com/cr/ERL-OP.html

Have you personally looked at the oil pump? I only ask because I blew my engine and even had a piston chewed in half, when I cracked open the oil pump you know what I saw..........nothing. I even checked the manual and spec'd it out to be fine. It's the best oiled part in the whole engine and would take a act of god if you ask me to ruin one. Only reason I didn't re-use mine was I tore the top off to see what was on my screen.......turned out it was not metal, but shavings from timing chain guides.

well one of my timing guides was also broke in half so something happened on my last spirted drive lol but she still ran so I am not sure. and i know all the k20 guys use our pump because its more effective in the higher rpm range. they also modify it. so I have searched. was kinda double checking and no I haven't seen the pump my self but i am not gunna lie i wouldn't know what to check for. This shop builds a lot of high hp motors and was recomended well. so I am sure he knows a hell of a alot more about it then I and he isn't trying to sell me a pump just recomending to get another, so he has no motive for telling me i need another.

our pumps dont explode like the B series oem pumps because they are not connected directly to the crank, so vibration is not transfered, and the gear doesn't shatter.

You could upgrade to an external dry sump pump though the main reason for doing that is to reduce the sump depth and avoid G related oil surge. The stock pump is a very good unit so no need to upgrade for upgrade sake.
