Default Oil pressure Gauge

I purchased an oil pressure gauge to monitor my setup, can these only be installed with a sandwich plate? It seems sketchy to me.

Use the small 1/8bspt threaded port that the oem oil pressure sending unit is in.

Make sure its 1/8bspt...its not the same as 1/8npt. 1/8 npt will start in the hole, but wont seal right and can mess the threads up -- most gauges are 1/8 npt, but come with a 1/8npt to 1/8 bspt adapter.

I ordered the Autometer Electric oil pressure gauge, Part # 2634

In the description though it says it includes a 1/8 npt sender and a 1/4 NPT adapter fitting. Am I able to order what you described seperately, or do i need a different gauge?

Yes you'll need the adapter. Probably find it cheaper at McMaster or somewhere else other than autometer...maybe check eBay.

I would rather use a sandwich plate. If you use the OEM port you lose the OEM sensor. Your oil pressure light will probably be on all the time. I rather have the new gauge from a new port and still have the OEM idiot light because after you have a gauge for 1 month, 6 months, a year you tend not to look at anymore. Takes about 10 minutes to install a sandwich plate under the oil filter. It will also give you a tap or a oil temperature which is more important. You probably will never lose oil pressure and if you do you will know it pretty quick, but you can over heat your oil and this is what you should be looking out for.

yeah thats teh adapter you need, but autometer charges a stupid price for it by itself (at my local autozone, they want 50$ just for that adapter. so i would look on amazon or somewhere where you can probably get it for a few bucks.
