So been searching the forum for the answer to this question, but i cant seem to find a certain and concrete answer. Which one of the two locations would be best?

Front cover is definitely better but a lot of people (myself included) use the pan without issue.

I ran it to the front top right of the oil pan (highest point) for a while without issues but now run it on the cover. Running it to the cover guarantees no oil will get backed up as long as its a smooth shot down and no up turns.

Unnecessary precaution in my experience. Comptech and SOS have always used the factory drain plug as the return line, Vortech has the oil pan tapped. Ive never had an issue with either of these location in the oil pan, as ive done both. Front timing cover requires a hell of a lot of extra work to adapt, something id skip unless you already have the motor out and apart.

How could it possibly drain like this when oil is always sitting in this spot?? Unless you can physically show oil draining and not backing up, I'm not buying that. Are you basing "it worked" because nothing has failed with the SC or Turbo?

Clear hose is the only way to see it work in action.

I have had my oil return on the top on the pan for many years with out problems. I only very recently switched the oil retur. To the timing cover becuase the engine was out. U know the oil level is actually higher than the whole oil pan. The only way for the oil retur. to be above the level is to tap the timing cover of the girdle both from my experience is not nessery. The top of the oil pan is perfectly fine.
