Default noob turbo questions

if your going to flame just click back. i know these are dumb questions but better to ask then never know.

im interested in going forced induction. my friend own the street owns a turbo supra and is helping me piece it together. i've decided with the power i want and reliability to go with a gt35r turbo. which is a t3 turbo.

but my question is what is the difference between t3, t4 and vband?

The biggest difference is the exhaust flange on the turbo where it mates with the manifold. T4 is bigger than T3. Vband is a totally different flange that doesn't use bolts.

Good luck, you may be better off just getting a new or used kit. Look at inline pro, mase, greddy, god speed, peak boost and there are many others. Start there.

You might want to look at godspeed or peak boost, you'd probably break even in build and design costs.

Btw, next time tell people you want to build your own kit as a challenge or something. Never tell people here you are doing because the kits are too expensive

Less flak that way

well i've thought about like getting a t3/t4 manifold for my car and taking just a smaller stock turbo off of any other like srt4 neon or something just so i can run that get like a quick 60 hp gain or something.

until i can afford the gt35r

Here is the issue with what you are proposing. By the time you spend this quick 1500 ish to get 60hp, you will not have a car that will be as fast as you would like. It will have issues with running and reliability will be a question always. So then you end up changing everything out piece by piece as you find there are issues with them. So in end you will end up with a kit or something very similar to some kit out there and would have spent twice as much getting there.

It is hard to wait till you really can afford to go FI, it is very tempting to spend the small dollars now to get an immediate 60hp. So if you can't wait and you must spend a little money now to get that "quick" fix then know you will end up spending more and you run the risk of destroying something in the process.

Given your current level of knowlegde, you should really do some more research before you start buying anything otherwise you are going to waste time and money building something that will blow your motor.
