Default Mystery lucky dip turbo smoking and getting way too hot

So I've installed a Garrett turbo that I inherited but it's smoking. Aside from that it seems to be running okay and boost pressure seems fine, any ideas what could be the cause and how damaging is it to drive on as is?

(Video in link as the site won't let me upload mp4 file)

Could need news seals. Could need a rebuild. If your turbo kit has the turbo sitting way low it could be oil building up.

It's not low mounted so don't think it's the oil, what would the job involve if its the seals? And would that be damaging to drive the car as is?

You sure it's not leaking oil on the turbo? Imo this can start a fire

I’d give a call to Garrett. Plain bearings are buildable and so are dual bb turbos.
They can be damaged if smoking, as it could mean the bearings are going, which cause the wheel to
intact the housing (bad) or it can allow the oil to basically pump out of the motor (very bad).

I'm waiting to hear back from Garrett but from trawling the Web I'm starting to think it's come off some sort of Nissan. Although i may have to bite the bullet and replace it with something else by selling a kidney as this is not looking good - the hood liner is starting to melt as it's producing excess heat and smoke ...

That's the oil feed. Where is the return line tapped to?
