You are likely grinding a bit when you shift from 4th to 5th. Slow that shift down just a bit so it doesnt grind.
The damage done by grinding into 5th is what causes the difficulty getting into 6th.

Let just say it becomes obvious what happens when you actually are holding the damaged parts in your hand.

I don't think I have ever ground 5th or any gear for that matter but maybe I just didn't notice it. I'll try to slow the shift down a bit going into 5th but it's harder when you're racing and need that gear and don't want boost to fall off.
