Default my comptech diff has just failed

Well my comptech diff just blew up. This diss has about 10,000 miles on it with the car between 400-600whp. I generally drive pretty easy. I have done maybe 4 autocrosses and 1 day at the drag strip. The main caps for the diff did not break off which is what typically happens on a stock diff so i supose the comptech diff somewhat worked I'll be sending it out to puddymod tomorrow and he will rebuild it to his stage 3. He said it should handle 600whp with out problems.

Here is a pic of the pinion gear with some missing teeth.

Its hard to tell in this pic but the ring gear is a litter chewed up.

It's all stock besides the comptech reinforced diff housing. My new puddy mod stage 3 will have cryo-treated gears.

Gotcha.. I'm wondering if you had cryo-treated gears, that this may not have happened.

The end caps usually wont break, they flex. That's the issue with stock equipped diffs, especially the ap1. You still may not have had enough reinforcement on the end caps with the comptech diff (considering you still damaged the ring and pinion gear) thats exactly whats happens when the end cap assy flexes and the gears go out of alignment. The gears themselves secondarily could still be a weak point.
