Default Mugen Pressure Plate opinions

I tried the search and came up empty, so here is my question.

I just got a comptech s/c w/ aftercooler (thanks nopi) and am upgrading my clutch.

I already have a Comptech Flywheel and am trying to determine which clutch package to purchase.

I currently have a ACT PP and ACT disk on order, but they have pushed back the delivery date 3 times, because it is back ordered and it has been over several months and my patience is running out.

What I am thinking of going with is the following;

- Mugen Pressure Plate
- OEM Disc
- OEM Throw Out Bearing

or a Mugen Metal Clutch Set which includes a Mugen PP and Mugen metal clutch Disc from King Motorsports.

Any opinions, experience and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

i honestly would not get a mugen part unless its for looks / aerodynamic purposes.

heavy duty pressure plates, produces a lot of pressure on the crank. That heavy "feel" taht you get from the pedal has to go SOMEWHERE, and that somewhere is the crank. After you bang on it for a while, the main thrust washers will be worn out, causing crankwalk.

We've seen every motor, from b series to f series, crankwalk. We have grabbed cranks with our hands with the motor out, and was able to jiggle it...

if you want a good performance clutch. competition clutch is the way to go.
Alot of people seem to have had alot of success with the ACT clutch kits. And how does the competition clutch kits differ. What separates them from the rest?

Thanks for the help

The pressure plate on the Comp. Clutch are all very soft. As a matter of fact the pedal pressure is just slightly softer than even OEM. The grip on the stage 2 IMO is higher than the ACT HDSS from what I have experienced.

How does it have more grip without increasing the pressure plate pressure? The right way...by increasing the friction of the disc.

With increased friction you get a hotter disc, so is the disc more prone to failing? How do ya'll solve that problem?

Thanks.
