How many miles have people gotten with a low boost kit like the greddy turbo kit? Would think that the engine would last a good bit longer with an entry level turbo kit like the greddy no?
the greddy kit hasn't been out for that long so you wont find anyone with substantial miles on it

Is the base inline pro kit around the same power as the greddy or more from the get go?

probably; the difference is that the greddy hits full boost much sooner than the inline pro kit (depending on which turbo you get).. the greddy kit, however, is limited to the power it can make (290-300whp)

Yeah I think that is what I want, real quick spooling turbo set up. If I go inline I'm sure I'll get hp hungry and just keep upping it until it's a crappy dd car.
Nice quick low end power would feel so nice in the S2K I think.
You have a greddy kit right?

i do have a greddy

to be fair though, i've seen some inline pro setups with a quick spool.. there is a member by the name of slimjim or something close to that who had a really nice set up

you have to remember i have a MY07 so i was constrained with my fuel system, tuning platform, etc, and the fact that my car was very new when i decided to bastardize it

if you are willing to spend a good amount of money i'd go full-race with a GT3071 and you'd have a FAT powerband; downsides are cost and heat.. both can be managed .. use AEM to tune

Yeah I'll see, not looking to break the bank really. Looking to spend around 3 grand for a used kit most likely. Turbo or SC not sure yet.

sounds like a supercharger setup to me with that budget.

you could probably grab up a used inline kit for 3k - but that will likely not include management, fuel, and of course, tuning!

even used greddy kits are sitting around the 3500 range, and you'll still need a good tune on top of it all.

however, i've been seeing the non aftercooled ctsc kits going used for about 2k - spend the extra grand on the aftercooler if you want, and be done!

i tend to agree with teleos.. you could prob get away with a used comptech kit and as long as your AFRs are in check you do not need a full-on tune as you would with any turbo kit

for me, the low end torque the greddy offered sealed the deal but i also had a larger budget

Just search around on the web and you can find a great price on a used Greddy. I stumbled on to one in Chicago for 2K. It was missing a couple of small brackets, heat wrap, vacuum lines and some hardware, but I found everything I needed for about 120 more. That includes 5 quarts of Mobil one synthietic oil for it. The Greddy seems to be the best deal for low end power and ease of installation and tuning. But, to be honest with you, I was looking for used Comptech and Vortech supercharger kits as well. I really didn't care which of those three I got. I just found the best deal on the Greddy turbo.
