Default Memory settings and Engine managment

Just a quick question here about disconnecting your engine management, whether it be Greddy Emanage Ultimate or AEM EMS. If one disconnects the unit, do either of these units lose their programs or does the last progam stay current upon plugging it back into a power source? I have read a couple of opposing threads and just want to make sure.

Cheers.
