Unhappy Made 529whp at 15 psi - More boost to come

Hello Guys,

I tuned with Jeff Evans today and made 529 at 15 psi on 93 octane. First S2000 tuned by Jeff to make 529 at only 15 psi. We could not push the car anymore because the car started to over heat.

Jeff did a leak down test and cylinders 1,3 and 4 appears to be leaking. I am going to retorque the head on Sunday to see if that solves the problem.

Setup:

-Full Race manifold
-Dual walbro fuel pump (-10 Feed, -8 return)
-Inline pro three millimeter head gasket - 6000 miles on it.
-ARP head bolt

I hope it is not the head gasket blown . If so, which pistons and rods I should get that does not require the block to be sleeved?

I don't want to have to change the head gasket every 20k to 30k.

Pistons and rods will last longer than the 3mm headgasket.

Looks like some nice numbers there but it's the first time I see an S2k making that kind of #'s at 15psi.

It has nothing to do with the 3mm HG. The 3mm HG uses the same OEM headgasket on it as if you were to only run the OEM HG. The only difference is, is that the 3mm HG is just that, a machined stainless steel spacer between the OEM HG. Improper torquing steps and/or improper HG install and setup will cause them to blow, along with a poor tune with detonation.

What I'm getting at is....If you think the 3mm HG will have to be replaced every 20-30k miles, so will just the OEM HG with lower compression pistons and rods.

It's on a Dynapack the Evans uses if I remember correctly. They are notorious for bloated numbers because they can be manipulated. Put it on a dynojet and you will know the true whp. Not bashing, just stating facts but good numbers nonetheless.

So, did you put a used HG on the car or was it on the car from a old set up?

One member ran his car on both a Dyno pack and Dyno Dynamic here in Md and it was a 15% differnce. I think they just read different I don't think the tuners try an manipulate them to read higher though.

The head gasket was new and was installed properly.

I did not retorque after a few heat cycles so I am hoping that is the problem.
