I've run the 3.90s with 500 rwhp (supercharged not turbocharged) and 3.90s are a vast improvement over the 4.10s. Hitting 130mph in 4th and still not hitting the 9500 rpm redline is fun. With 600 rwhp the 3.90s would be a good choice.
DeadZero was running the 3.90s with his 658 rwhp setup.

Chris just get a ppg tranny it will allow you to stay in gears longer

just like sideways said, the 3.90 gears was awesome!
i wouldn't even mind next time around having lower then 3.90
the more power your making the, the longer gears help you take advantage of all that power instead of having to quickly shift. 3rd gear reaching 100 easily is always nice too

I'm running a Laskey built bottom end with CP pistons and Pauter rods.

Do you think the stock block can safely rev to 9400-9500 rpm with my built head or do you think it'll be a bad thing reving that high?

I won't recommend it but I did it with my stock block. Peaked it at 482 rwhp at 9480 rpm and 17 psi.
Thanks for the advice.

I may just set my rev limiter at 9350-9400 rpm then to be safe.
Thanks for the advice.

Look at your torque and horsepower curves and see if you need it that high. With the turbos generally needing less rpms than superchargers to get the best performance you may not need the redline that high.
Higher rpms are much harder on the engine.

I will do that when I tune. I was just hoping to be able to safely rev it up around 9400 rpm to get a little more speed out of 4th gear. If it shows on the dyno that power is falling off at say 9200 rpm, I will just cap it there. But if it continues to make good power and pull all the way to 9400 rpm or so, I was hoping it would be safe to leave it there. Did you ever have any problems reving your stock block to 9480 rpm? I'll be upwards of 700 whp btw so the stress at those rpms and 700 whp may be too much for the stock block.

I went with a 4.4 gear. That way I can autox X in 3rd gear.
When do I really need to go +150mph + there are not many tracks where they will even let you go that fast unless you are fully prepped.
