Longevity of comptech s/c?
Tried doing a search on this specific topic, couldn't find anything.
To all owners of the comptech s/c, how many miles (in general) can be expected out of the unit before a re-build is required? I've found a car that has about 50K mileage, comptech installed at 19K. So roughly 30K on the supercharger. Am curious to see how much more I could expect from this unit before running into any problems. Thanks!

I think if you're asking the question, then you shouldn't consider buying this car. A FI/SC car needs maintenance and attention.
Are you comfortable with taking off the blower and getting it rebuilt and putting it back on? If the answer is yes, then go ahead any buy it. if the answer is no, then avoid it.
Nobody can tell you how long that car will last. It could be in horrible shape or it could last another 50K.
There are a few ways to tell if the blower is healthy by checking for shaft play, etc.
Good Luck

Not a ct but my vortech I've been running for 55k miles or so now and I bought the kit used. They can last a very long time. Rebuilds aren't very expensive however.

A long time lol...as in thousands of miles. Rebuild kits are only a several hundred dollars, which consist of bearings and seals that can easily be done yourself or brought in to someone with a press.
I would say the seals fail before the bearings, and that can be done yourself.

Thanks guys. With a supercharger nearing the end of it's lifecycle before requiring a rebuild, are there significant risks of the engine also being damaged and requiring work? Or is the longevity of the engine not related to the longevity (or abuse) of the supercharger? Lol sorry if that doesn't make sense, I don't really know how else to word it. Basically, if I assume the worst case that the supercharger has been used long and hard and will need to be rebuilt, I'm willing to pay the 350 and labor. But will I then also have to worry about engine damage? Or is comptech's product good enough to run it's course without negatively affecting the engine?

it's all in the tune and maintenance.
Do a compression test/leak down test. it will give you a good indication on the health of the motor. Check for shaft play on the Supercharger.

You could always just go ahead and take the blow off right away and send it out for a rebuild just for peace of mind. But if it doesn't have any play in the shaft, no obvious leaks or oil weeping from seals, and its not squealing, then you should be OK on my book.

My comptech nv1000 has been on for 45, 000+ miles at 8psi (3.9" pulley). I am the only owner of this car and I bought the comptech kit brand new . I've been beating on my car pretty hard lately from autocrossing. It's still going strong. Just recently put a 3.2" pulley on and now running 12psi. Car has 60, 000 miles on it. Blower has been on since 2006.
