Hey Guys, I am trying to get everything together so I can finish my turbo build but I have had some oil consumption issues with my Laskey Built engine. The inside of the engine looked like the oil had gotten extemely hot so i had it rebuilt and they claimed I had worn the piston rings flat due to a bad tune. :/ No sure how much I can believe that but I was running the OEM tune.
i have since had the engine rebuilt but am STILL having oil consumption issues. (i changed the oil every 1k miles or sooner over the past 6k miles). This time I DID have it tuned, and just as before followed the break in proceedure to the T. I ran my most recent oil change to roughly 1500 miles and the oil came out blacker than hell, with sludge and what not. I have pictures. I am currently running an oil consumtpion test to see how much oil it uses over a 1000 mile period.
I am not sure but it seems the oil temp is getting much too high just for normal driving. I am currently seeing oil temps of 220-239 just driving around back and forth to work. no vtec. just daily driving. Temps are measured from a sandwhich adaptor @ the oil filter/oem oil cooler. What is the normal expected oil temps? if I am way over what could possibly be causing such high oil temps?
My coolant temps are ranging from 180-210ish as measured from the oem temp port on my FullBlown radiator (outlet of the radiator). Highest coolant temp i have seen is 225 when it was over 110 degrees in stop and go traffic. I have bled the coolant system many times. (I work for Honda and have Honda master techs available)
engine is NOT turbo yet, i am running it NA, I currently have the intercooler installed, but have not finished the turbo built yet. I cant imagine 240 degree oil temps are normal, I can only imagine what they would be on the track n/a much less with a turbo!! I do have a mocal oil/water oil cooler but have not installed it yet.
engine specs:
2006 DBW
10.5 CP pistions
2.0 Benson Sleeved Shortblock
Pauter Rods
oil squirter delete
Asura Baffled oil pan
Full Blown radiator
2.2 cams
supertech valve train

I wonder if your oil squiter delete could be causing the pistons to get hotter and thus the oil temps rising. I'm not a fan of deleting the oil squiters, Honda put them there for a reason.
