just picked up a used comptech supercharger
well yesterday i drove about 4 hours and picked up a used 1000novi comptech kit
i noticed some oil residue in a couple places, do i need a rebuild?
i wipe the oil away and it comes back, but its not dripping
also there wasnt any oil in the houseing where the wheel is, nor where the charge piping connects to the unit
any input i appreciate i just dont want to install it and then have to have it rebuilt

the first one is common read here:

The last two just seem like crush washers and you should be able to fix them with new ones.

Is there any shaft play up and down? Does it feel smooth when you turn it?
If there is no oil residue inside the volute then your probably fine. Oil weeping from fittings isn't uncommon and just means you may need to re trq them.

Hey guys, while we are on this topic, can someone please tell if it's normal for a comptech blower to make a loud, blender like, noise at idle?
Or do I need a rebuild as well?
Sorry to jack your thread WAIT4VTEC. Please let me know if you want me to remove my post.
Thanks

They are pretty noisy at idle. Should turn to a pretty smooth whistle as you raise rpms though. Chirping is a bad sound you don't want. It means your belt is too tight and your bearings are stressed, or they are just stressed period.

"input shaft seal failure"
i dont want oil possibly leaking onto the ground even though they state it wont hurt performance
do you guys think i could replace just that seal myself?

I would, even it does only leak a little. Those 928 seals are pretty good from what I hear, and like you I wouldn't want ANY oil leaking. You already have it out, and at $63 it seems like cheap insurance.
In that first pic, I believe it is just a matter of removing those bolts. Pop the old seal out and put the new one in. I'm not sure on the difficulty for the front one behind the impeller though.

Looks fine. If no oil around compressor wheel and no shaft play, in and out or side to side it should be fine.
The centri blowers are pretty loud at idle. Most sound like something is broken even though they are fine.
