BTW guys...I have a T1R 70RT exhaust and with this turbo kit it is back-firing like crazy when I let off the gas and the RPMs go down. If I cannot resolve this via engine management I will have to sell the exhaust and get something else.

Any suggestions?

Couple more on the heat -- take off the charge pipe that connects to the turbo near the manifold and wrap the rubber coupler in 2000 degree heat tape.

Within about ~1200 miles, my rubber coupler had about a 1/2 inch hole burned into it which was obviously leaking boost big time. Once I replaced it and wrapped it I have not had a problem there.

The other one to look out for is the motor mount on the manifold side of the motor. I fabbed up a heatsheild for this too because OGPackin told me about his melting and had to be replaced.

It doesn't need to be anything fancy and you can't see it from the top anyway, just needs to cover the top of the mount so the radiant heat from the mani, the exhaust side of the turbo and the downpipe don't cook it.
Thanks for the suggestions bro!

I bought some Thermo Tec thermo-sheild tape which is good for up to 2000 degrees. I had the shop that did the install wrap a few items around the turbo. There was an issue with this tape on the rubber coupler though--the upper adjustable clamp was sliding off the coupler under boost and the charge pipe was coming off. It happened once while on the dyno and again on my way home.

Ya suggested that I tighten the clamps first and then wrap the area with the thermo tape. I intend to do that. I will definitely look into the heatshield for the motor mount.

The T1R 70RT is a header (or downpipe)-back exhaust. Shawn Church did the tuning and he specifically made it a bit rich because of the stock compression ratio and something about not being able to read the knock sensor. I think one of the changes Honda made to the MY06 affected the knock sensor and my EMS is not reading it. The developers of my EMS will be looking into this issue.

In the mod list I don't think you mentioned what you're tuning with. Do you run an AEM?

About six months ago AutoWave used my S2000 to design a wiring harness which allows an AEM EMS to be used in parallel with the OEM ECU. I used that ECU for a month or two, and decided to go back to the Hondata ECU reflash. I know have a prototype EMS, and cannot provide specific details at this time as I am under a non-disclosure agreement. Once I get the thumbs-up I will create a thread discussing this EMS.

Thanks bro!

Once I convert the system to a return-type and install a 3mm headgasket I'll shoot for 400-450rwhp.

we had to do the same thing for a turbo 05nsx...... im guessing you had to do it that way because of drive by wire?

Yepper. Mike @ AutoWave did the same thing for a turbo NSX which had DBW. Since he was successful at getting an AEM EMS to work on it he was confident he could do the same for the S2000. He was successful, with a few draw-backs--no cruise control, no VSA and check engine light on all the time.
