I took mine out by disconnecting the tranny and dropping the engine onto the mounts then bolting the trans back up...I could see taking it in and out in one piece but that might be more difficult?

i dont think it will come out in one piece with the OEM crossmember in place.

you can just drop the entire subframe with the engine mounted to it. thats what i did, very easy that way. did it by myself lol

I would recommend against dropping the whole subframe out of the car...I did my engine swap and clutch job by myself...just follow the honda service manual instructions it makes it very easy...if you need the manual do a search if you can't find it pm me I'll email them to you...it takes you through step by step instructions

why? you leave the tranny bolted to the motor, no need to struggle to get to the top bolts. unbolt the driveshaft, shifter, unplug all sensors, remove the a/c compressor without unplugging lines, unbolt the upper control arm from the car then the shocks and you can drop the entire assembly. it literally took me 2 hours.

the other way you need to lower the subframe anyway to get to the top tranny bolts, take a lot of time getting to the top bolts, then support the tranny as you slide it out of the clutch, then use a hoist to pull the engine out of the top without hitting the firewall or the cross member etc etc.

on a lift with a tranny jack its different, i wouldn't drop the subframe. but on jackstands i think its easier.

^^^Geez, how tall were the jack stands used to allow the engine and subframe to be pulled out from the bottom? Or were blocks of wood used as well?

Instead of dropping the entire subframe, u can just lower it a few inches on the bolts and raise the engine/trans up onto the mounts. u would have to leave the intake manifold off until the engine is in tho.
