Default ID 1000 injector install (2000-2004)

Changing out FIC 1000cc injector to ID 1000cc injector and adding a fuel filter basket.

Had a set 1000cc FIC injector went bad after one year of use. There was no instructions that came with it. Had to second guess how to install. On the initial install, the injectors were sitting loose with the cushion supplied. When seated, the injector were still loose. Had to add extra orings to the cushion for it to seat and seal correctly.

Car ran perfect for the first 3 months. The symptoms where a gradual misfire/breakup under boost (excessive engine vibration). A year later, the car was misfiring badly under boost. Compression checks out good. Spark plug tips looks great. New coils and different gap sizes didn't make a difference.

The ID injectors are already installed, but I'm taking it out to put in the fuel filter basket.

Remove all the 10mm nuts and bolts on the fuel rail. Use a 7/8 wrench to remove the fuel damper.

Make sure don't loose the O-ring on the pressure regulator.

Stock, FIC, and ID injectors

Bag of Honda fuel filter basket

The basket sits loose in the ID injector, but seats up to the fuel rail. Not ideal. Maybe the bosch injector filter basket works better.

Can't believe the ID injector came with only one O-ring. Added the the smaller Viton O-ring 7.65x 1.78 to the ID injector. The FIC came with two. This help stabilize the bigger O-ring when pushing the injector into the fuel rail. Ask me how I know. Fuel was leaking all over on the first install. The O-ring was crimped and did not seal properly. Lubricate the O-ring with some spit to push it in smoothly.

And the confusion. You need to use the stock cushion along with the ID injector cushion. See left injector. Install all the injectors into the fuel rail.

Best to put the stock cushions back onto the intake manifold then install the fuel rail with the injectors.

Unscrew the long bolt and place the supplied washer underneath the bolt. Three bolts total.

The ID injector sitting snugged against the intake manifold.

After the install, turn ignition on to prime the fuel pump and check for leaks. Start the car and go back and check for leaks again.

Took the car out for a spin, boosting to 17psi with stable A/F at 11.5-12 WOT. No signs of misfire. This is running stock gap BKR8EIX with a BAS.

Car is daily driven 60miles 3-4days/week. Hopefully the filter basket add some protection against dirty fuel. Still running the stock fuel filter sock with Fullblown 340L fuel pump.

Surprised you had an issue with the FIC. What fuel were you using ? Do you use a fuel filter?

The filter baskets may help but ID/FIC use the same bosch injector for their 1000s. So it wouldn't be an upgrade of injector, maybe matching process, but not injector.

Using 91oct fuel.

Stock fuel filter sock at the pump. Surprised that the 1000cc injectors didn't come with a fuel filter basket. The stock injectors have one. I initially ran the FIC injector without the basket, relying on the stock fuel pump sock to filter. Going to send in the FIC's to get it clean and flow test.

I'm not sure of the size of the micron filter at the pump and the filter basket. Would be nice to be able to run an in-line fuel filter between pump and injector.

Changing brands is not an upgrade. Just trying to cure my misfires.

Yes I completely understand. Wouldn't have many explanations to issues with the injectors besides
-possible gas fault from sedimentation
-fuel filter?
- ethanol could have caused issues

Sorry for your trouble :/ good info about the orings though.

Just run the ID1000's as they were shipped to you. They don't need to be modified.

Do the ID1000s tick? I just installed mine and noticed a ticking noise. I keep poking around the fuel damper and I can feel the pulses from it matching the tick I hear. I've heard some big injectors tick, just wondering if this is the case with the ID1000s.

Thanks!
