I need help/advice on what to do
I posted a thread earlier that my car wasn't working - turns out that I have quite a bit of shaft play due to some bolts (3) backing out of my turbo and causing damage. My car won't even start unless I disconnect the charge pipes and I've had no form of transportation for nearly two weeks now. It's time to get this straightened out.
I called Turbonetics and they told me it'd be 450 if the damage was minimal, and 600 if I needed a new cartridge. That's a LOT of money to have to spend just because some bolts backed out and I hate to have to spend that much just to have the same setup that I had before so I'm looking to upgrade.
I'm looking at the GT3076 turbo. I know that it's a ball bearing turbo - would I be able to unbolt my Turbonetics T04r and slap on the GT30 and call it a day? I highly doubt this - so I need to know what I'll need to do to install it.
Also, there's an internally wastegated GT3076 for sale right now which is interesting. It'd allow me to sell my current turbo for a hundred or two, my turbo timer since the BB doesn't need one, and my Tial 44mm wastegate since this turbo is internall gated. However, are there any negatives to having an internally gated turbo?
For reference I have the Lovefab V1 setup.
I'll post my questions in an easier to follow manner:
1. What would I have to do to switch to a BB turbo?
2. What would having an internally gated turbo entail?

Do not get an internally gated turbo, it will effect everything with your set, you will also need to have your down pipe rebuilt
Here is a picture of my gt3076 r non gatted, notice how much longer the exhaust side is compared to any other turbo.
I would recommend the gt3076 with .82 AR Im fully spooled by 4000 rpms, Im running 9 lbs of boost

Hmm, my T04R is fully spooled by about 4000 or so without any type of boost control. I've heard some people get full spool as early as 3100 with the gt30. Is it because of your .82 housing?
