My ptp blanket lasted about 1500 miles before turning to dust. I use Grade 8 bolts from home depot with a large flat washer under the lock washer, have had zero issues. Try adding a large flat washer i'll bet your problem goes away. It isolates the bolt from the turbine housing, allows it to expand without breaking the bolt off. I gave up on the blankets and heat sheilding and bought a vented hood. Heat is no longer an issue.

I'm using the same...grade 8 bolts, flat washers, and nuts. I ditched the standard lock washers in favor of Nord-Lock washers to prevent everything from backing out/loosening up

That's really odd..... is the downpipe banging against the firewall? Do you have a flexpipe on the downpipe?

I also got an DEI turbo blanket and it went to Crap after about 1000 miles. It's like the inside has came all apart and now there is all kinds of fiberglass or whatever it is from the cover all over my motor. It got into places that can't be good for it.. good thing about it, I get them at cost.. let me know if you want to try another one.
