Arrow HG or Not--Gettin Mase'd

Hey guys,

I am currently running a greddy turbo kit at 12 psi. meth injection and full 3" exhaust.(stock complession). I made around 250 whp on a heartbreaker dyno... I recently bought a gt3076r .82 AR turbo to swap out the stock turbo... I am torn whether or not to run a 3mm HG or not... ( i know there are lots of pro and cons).... Mase is coming up to a town near where i live so I am going him to tune the car.... I am just wondering what you guys think I should do.. I could run a 3mm HG at around 20 psi or so or I could run stock HG at a lower psi.. Say 16 or 18 psi.. I know mase is known to be one of the best tuners out there so if anyone could make it happen im sure hes the man... I know the 3mm HG thing has been over analyzed but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know the that if i go stock HG i run the risk of blowing the motor and with 3mm HG i run the risk of blowing the HG so its a toss up... And unfortuneately i don't have the money for a full build cuz i know that would be best..I as hoping to get numbers in the area of 350+ on the same dyno.... thanks

chad

get the headgasket done.... get bigger intercooler piping...get bigger down-pipes and DEFINITELY get that turbo and you will hit 350 no problem

If you are only looking for 350 whp I would get the car tuned with the 3076 and the stock headgasket. It will only take around 12psi to get there.

Heartbreaker dyno or not, 250RWHP for the Greddy Kit at 12psi ?,something is very wrong.

I had 12psi and meth with the Greddy set-up and hit 317 on a Dyno-dynamics

Well we will have to wait to see what numbers mase comes up with on the same dyno to see if was the tune... there were no boost leaks and the engine is fresh....Different dynos read totally different so it may be hard to compare mine to yours...

I kinda like the idea of running stock HG, just because I've heard a lot of horror stories...What do you think the max boost i should run on stock HG with methanol injection and MASE tune??? thanks guys

Do you think larger charge piping is needed??? Would it help to get more HP??? II know the stock piping is fairly small.. Maybe 2- 1/4"... Would 2- 1/2 really make a difference? If so I could prob round up some charge piping off ebay or something.. I already have a 3" DP so thats ok.. I will be running either 750 or 1000 cc injectors with the emanage and meth.. I would love to boost higher with the 3mm HG but I am skeptical and since mase is such a reconized tuner, maybe he can make the same power i would with 3mm just with stock HG and lower boost

Hey Chad, Mase is one of the few tuners that I have seen pull what was once impossible numbers with a stock headgasket. Even though there are people that have success with the 3mm hg, I have read threads with people having gasket issues due to it and that leaves suspicion. The only issue I've read with the stock hg was people blowing their engine If it was any other tuner I would have suggested the 3mm, but since Mase is tuning our cars I would leave it as is.

Yah thats the thing right..... I could either go with stock HG and run the risk of blowing the engine or do a 3mm HG and run the risk of redoing the HG later on.....

And yes I thought about running another kit.. but i don't think im as power hungry as you are... I just want a little more of an edge than the greddy already offers.. who knows I may be able to pull some nice numbers.... I think I am going to be the first one to try this upgrade with higher boost.... when i need some huge power I think Ill look into the s2000 big brother on steroids and go with a Viper and start to play with that..haha.. But I am still having a lot of fun with my s2k so thats way down the road... And also to start all over again i would need a larger bank account.. This upgarde is gonna cost me about 1500.00 so IDK... Well see what happens.... Im gonna email mase and see what he thinks, but im not sure if the emanage ultimate will hold me back or not to get the perfect tune for high boost on stock HG
