HELP! What is this!?

Sorry for the noob questions...I hope this isn’t serious. I’ve attached a picture of the engine bay off of an AP1 S2000. I have an AP2, but I’m sure it doesn’t matter (If it does, please let me know!)
Please take a look at the Red Circle.
1) What is that thing? (The "snail?")
2) Mine is covered in oil. Is that normal?
It’s completely covered with grime/oil and it seems like there’s oil also on the underside of the elbow connecting the intake to the blower (the Green Arrow).
3)Where is this oil coming from? Have you seen/heard of this happening?
Is this just blow by oil or something more serious? Even if it were blow by oil, it should be leaking out, right?

The red circled item is a divertor valve (bosch), a bit of oil is normal, also where the aftercooler meets the snail, again a little bit is normal - but its usually down to not being clamped enough either side.
However run a catchcan to reduce it further but not completely eliminate IMO.
The intake tract covered in oil is probably down to it running off the DV, if its leaking from the blower fins a directly under i.e intake then you have a problem (seals etc).

I don't run the front vent to the intake track, I just vent to atmosphere, performs better this way, so in this case there is no way for engine oil to collect in this area, unless your blower seals are going bad. I would remove the elbow and clean it good, plug the port and vent the front breather to atmosphere. Run it like this for a period of time and see if your oil starts to collect again. If it does you need a basic blower rebuild. Seals/bearings. If your oil does not return, then leave your front breather venting to atmosphere or run it to a vented catch can.

100% normal to have some oil in your intake. If you have excessive oil then it is indicative of ring sealing problems.
Use a catch can to help collect some of that oil or vent to atm.

Fyi, it's for when you close the throttle while in boost, that compressed air needs somewhere to escape. Some people run a blow off valve on the aftercooler side and eliminate that hose.
