Default help with picking turbo.

hi guys, my name is eric, been having problem with my precision turbo jb6262(old version).

short story goes, turbo blew from a kinked drain line. sent it back to precision for rebuild, drove for 4 weeks and got massive shaft play....

now. i would like to get the newer version of the precision turbo PT6266 CEA. but would like to know what else is comparable out there.

trying to target 450 on pump 93, and need room for next year when switching to flexfuel and bigger numbers. please advice, thank you

You don't need anything bigger than a 6262, that should be good for well over 450 on pump and easily 550+ on E85. Assuming you don't have plans to build the motor or anything, a new 6262 should be just fine.

is there another brand of turbo any one here recommends? Garrett? Borg?

im not a turbo guy by any means. Thanks in advanced.

I would get a Garrett/Borg before a precision. My 6262 started smoking with about 5000 miles with a good drain into the timing cover, and with a vented valve cover.

A Garrett GTX3576R on the 0.82 A/R turbine housing should be right around 450whp on 93 octane. On race gas, it's a 600whp turbo.

Need more information to really answer. 450 whp? What compression ratio are you running? I certainly wouldn't go back to Precision after your luck. I would go with a Garrett GTX.

block is f20 10.1 compression allen built block, with ap2 head.

originally with f22 stock comp. and head made 404whp on 9 lbs low boost. drove for a bit and bearing spun.

so i got a f20 wanting to rev 9k. and built that.

goal is 450whp on 93 pump low boost, and upping the power next year when switching to flexfuel.

as far as my decision is concerned, no i will not go with precision again..

i hope the information helps. again guys really appreciate all the help and information.!

I have a 6265 about to be rebuilt within a month or so, hoping for 450whp around 15psi or lower on 93oct with full torque around 5-5.4k I'm sure what you want can be done with the right manifold. Which do you have? the inline Log or a "custom" one?
