220tq and only 270whp? Thats nitrous numbers. Do you get extra torque from running e85? Typically S2Ks that make 220wtq with boost have power levels around 350.

Turbo's make more torque than superchargers.. I don't see those numbers being hard to believe at all on such a small turbo.. I bet it pulls nicely with that torque in the midrange..

And to the couple posts above pulling timing doesn't make power. Increasing the timing does. You generally increase until it starts to show some signs of knock and then pull it back slightly.

No technically true.

We are on a GEMU thread running the stock ECU's base timing, it is too advanced and retarding the timing will gain power. AS you say until you pick it up with det cans or see torque drop on a dyno. Though I agree with what your saying generally.

^^ Right. I don't claim to know a whole lot about tuning myself, but my tuner was engaging and took his time to explain everything that he was doing (plus I've read a heck of a lot on the internet about it as well). The Emanage Ultimate is a piggyback that works in conjunction with the stock ECU. Most of the serious F/I guys here recommend getting a full standalone (AEM) or going with KPro if you can, and I agree (as does my tuner) that if you're looking to make serious power you should go one of those routes. But the Emanage, being a pigggyback, is in constant battle with the stock ECU, so actually by pulling some timing you can make power.

I run the Emanage because I want to retain the ability to use my OBD-II port to see what CELs I'm throwing if something goes wrong. Since I'm not in it for max power, I don't need a standalone. My tuner has me to where my warm idle AFRs is around 14.5-15.0, my cruise idle is around 14.7, and my WOT idle is in the low 12s. I was more concerned with him keeping my AFRs right and my power curve smooth than I was about making a ton of power. My tuner is pretty certain that he could make me more power if I swap out to AEM, but it isn't worth it to me to gain 10-15whp at the peak. Not even close.

True true. I keep forgetting this EMU is taking a stock tune and going from there. That being the case then you definitely need to pull timing. I'm think in terms of tuning with something more like a reflash/standalone where you can edit everything. With that being the case from whatever is safe it's usually advanced timing that makes power.

Yep. There are some pros and cons to running with a piggyback, and tuning is a little different as well. I'm happy with the compromise, but not all will be.
