Greddy Turbo Kit
Hi,
I'm really interested in the Greddy turbo kit, what with all these recent threads about the Greddy Kit. I like the Greddy kit as it will work on the RHD cars over here in the UK, unlike the IP kit.
I've got a few questions. I realise search is my best friend, but many of the answers I'm looking for are on different threads all over the place! So please help!
1. Would I lose the feel of VTEC if I went Greddy due to the nature of the power delivery?
2. What's standard boost for the Greddy?
3. Is the base map on the emanage good, or will it need tweaked?
4. What would be the next logical step for power gains over the stock kit? Bigger injectors? Tune? Exhaust?
5. Are there any known issues with the Greddy kit? I would want a kit that is 100% reliable as it would be shipped over to the UK so obviously don't want to be sending to to and frow to the US!!
Anything else I should know?
Many thanks!
Nick

1) Yes
2) with stock everything, about 7 psi
3) dunno... but mine hasn't caused any issues
4) Exhaust, TP, high flow cat. If you go test pipe, I think you can keep the stock exhaust. With a test pipe alone I'm hitting and holding 9psi in vtec with 10% gain on my boost controller.
5) Missing part bolts or hoses. A trip to the local auto parts store can usually solve these.

Thanks kix. I've read your thread and that's what started me thinking about going Greddy over a SC.
Have you had/or know anybody that has had boost spiking in cold weather? I used to have this all the time with my Impreza!!!

I got some more:
1 Some people are telling me i really NEED a tune after the kit is installed but you guys are all saying that the greddy basemap is 100% safe to drive around with without any problems?
2 the rich basemap does cool the cylinders more then a leaned out tune, so whats better?
3 the greddy kit is at fully boost at 3500-4000 rpm. how much more power is it making compared to stock?
4 Does it provide power between 3500 -9000 rpm or does the turbo die at high rpm's?
thanks

What kind of power TQ and HP will we be looking at with stock everything on an AP2? Ive seen dynos on ap1 stock but none on ap2.
My understanding is the original base map that greddy provided is good for stock but runs super rich. Is it advisable to get it tuned regardless or will the base map be fine just waste more gas?
Im also thinking about getting a greddy kit. Looking for modest gains.

2. You don't want it overly rich. A lean tune is dangerous though. If you know a good tuner in your area, they can set you up. I think 11.8:1 is considered the optimal AFR for F20/F22, the base tune is probably more like 10.5:1 .
3. Its alot more, 50-60 ft lbs of torque or so.
4.The car is still pulling well, just not increasing in torque like you feel in the lower rpm range. I'm only running above 8000 rpms for short bursts anyways, so its sort of a non-issue. The top end power really opens up when you lose the stock cat though.
Hopefully others will chime in . .

those who put the kit on without tune, will be JUST Fine. i would be weary if you have a test pipe.........but already judging how some of you that slapped on teh kit and didnt tune AND getting HORRIBLE gas mileage, thats a Really good indicator your running really rich..
If you go out and get it tuned well, maybe crank up the boost a psi or 2, you'll get your gas mileage back as long as your not romping on the gas.
