Fule pump wine
hey guys, ihave another quick question. I have the upgraded fuel pump that came with my inline pro kit. all of a sudden today i started hearing this constant howling or whining from the rear. Im not sure if its the fuel pump but thats the only thing i can think of. i never heard until today. It does it the second i turn my car on unitl i turn my car off. Is this my fuel pump and is this ok for it to do that??
Thanks

most aftermarket fuel pumps like Walboro's require 14 Volts at the pump to work the way they are designed to by the manufacture(unlike the stocker only needs 12V)....whats happening is the stock wireing leading all the way back to the pump restricts most voltage flow to 11.9-12.0 volts causeing the pump to wine loudly and possibly interfer with other voltage draws like turn signals, headlights....etc.....when the pump gets the proper V needed it quiets down and you can barely hear it at all(also flows more fuel)....your pump will still work good enough at 12V.....but if you want it to shut up....you need to re-wire it running the lead with thicker gague speaker wire directly off the battery all the way back to the pump and tie it in with a 30amp bosch relay....that way when your alternator charges up to 14V when the car is running......your fuel pump will also be getting 14V.....problem solved.
If you don't want to do all that then your just going to have to put up with the wineing and any other electrical interferance it may cause. Most people just don't understand fuel pumps and Voltage flow and bash companys like Walboro who make excellent pumps for the money.

The S2000's wiring is more than adequate for the Walbro 255lph pump.
It's just a noisy pump. You get used to it.
