Here's a funny story. Today was my first real driving with the new sound. I pulled out of my garage and I thought I heard someone using a leaf blower far away. Everytime I would stop I would hear more people blowing leaves in the distance... I rolled through a drive-thru to get breakfast and sure enough someone was using a leaf blower in their parking lot too.
I seriously went the whole morning without making the connection. I felt like a completed dumbass when it finally clicked that it was my new fuel pump..

Isn't the whine noticeable after some highdriving, mabey after some vtec'ing or during a hot day? I used to notice them during those times and it went away after I did this.
Instead of the "pinch type" clamps that hold the rubber hoses; upgrade to the scew type ones. Cost about 1.50 at autozone. They clamp the hoses a lot better, and try to make sure the section where the fuel filter's located is tightly sealed and when connecting the plugs not to interfear with the any mechanical components.
After I did this that whine/humming noise went away.
