I just pulled all rod end caps and inspected both halves and the bearings are perfectly fine! The crank is untouched and still like glass. Hmm...

Crank main bearing ??? Gonna have to pull motor to take girdle off ..... Although that video doesn't sound like bearings ....... The noise isn't a deep enough "duck duck duck" noise it honestly sounds more like an exhaust leak at the manifold to head gasket......it's more of a tick from what i can tell in the video....

Good luck

Lee

Also if your going to change your oil every thousand miles then why buy the most expensive oil? Cheap synthetic should do then.

Running e85 and changing the oil very often is just good cheap insurance with making big power on an acidic fuel. Also, Amsoil is one of the best oils on the market that actually still uses ZDDP and high detergents to combat acidic fuels. ZDDP helps keep the timing chain tensioner lubed properly and the added high detergents help keep the fuel from thining out prematuraly when running acidic fuels. Even with this, you should change the oil very often when running e85. I always check my oil on the dipstic before driving it and check the consistency, color and smell and if anything raises any flags with me, I change it before even starting it. I usually change the oil every 500-750 miles depending on how much abuse the car has gotten on the oil at the time and have gone as much as 1000 miles with no issue but would never go over 1000 miles with the fuel I run and power I make. You just have to keep a close eye on the oil every time you go to take the car out, that's the best way to judge when the oil needs changed.

Hopefully it's not the main bearing, I believe that's the one LJ spun when his oil thinned out while on e85. Try swapping in some new Amsoil 10w40 and a new filter and fire it up to see if the noise is still there. The new oil may be thick enough to quieten things just long enough to see if it happens to be the main bearing. Is there any way to check the main bearing while the pan is off without having to pull the girdle? Maybe try to move the crank around to see if there is any excess play? Not sure if that's possible though.
