Default EGR Block Off Plate & Ports

So I posted this in my build but was wondering if anyone else has done this?

From what I can tell the exhaust travels from the exhaust port, down the side of the head then though the head at the back and around into intake manifold. If there is no EGR/ACV valve the exhaust would be able to travel back into the intake causing contamination (See S2kPuddyDad Post Below).

Basiclly I just used a 1/4" x 20 tap and then threaded in the small St-Stl set screws. I did not tap all the way to the exhaust port so it can't get to the exhaust port and by reinstalling the EGR plate they can't back out either.

there is no way for the exhaust to get back into the intake, considering the EGR valve (and only pushes air under pressure into the head) does not get its air from the intake plenum, but from the air pump, and then the air filter.

I though it was the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) not AIR?

THERE IS NO EGR ON THESE CARS

That is how the air from the air pump gets to the exhaust.

There are block off plates made by 4 or 5 different companies for this specifically.

Or you can just unplug the air pump or system, it does the same thing..

its not a egr its a secondary air pump, that has the same purpose of a egr basically.

I am having another built now, if the first buyer backs out you can be next. I am guessing it will probably be around $1500-$2000 with Ferrea or Supertech Valves and hardware, new valve seats, guides, milling, valve seals and cleaning.

It's not EGR. It's secondary air injection to warm up the catalytic convertor.

I'd only bother to block these off you you are not using OEM PCM.
