Ok, I had a good kit, (InlinePro/PrecisionPro/Tial/Greddy components), and sold the used Garett turbo that came with the kit. I then bought the ebay turbo, and completed the kit (which was not an ebay kit to begin with), and bought pipes from ebay, made my own 3" catless dual exhaust.
Prior to putting the kit on, I installed a 2mm headgasket and dynoed it. 156 HP at the wheels. I was very very rich up top, thus the low numbers, but that's because of 2mm headgasket. after the turbo went on, tuning using crappy Emanage blue, I came out 90HP stronger, on 7psi spring (6psi actual manifold pressure).
That's about 15hp/psi. Not too bad, for a little cheap ebay turbo.

Update!
Today AEM EMS 1052 was tuned, at 10lbs spring, on 750cc RC injectors.
I'm making 294 at the wheels.
But the driveability is so so much better. I don't even care about the numbers, it just drives so well now.
All that on that cheap Ebay .63/.50 turbo. I know that eventually you do get what you pay, but I'd have to pay like 8 times to get to the cost of one brand-name turbo!
