Driving without vortech timing box
Hey guys I've finished everything for my vortech install, and through testing I have figured out that my black timing box is not working. The car will not start when it is hooked up, I have tried numerous times solidering, crimping, following the diagram, following written and nothing works. The car will however start and drive with the map black box hooked up. So I figured the car could be driveable. I drove to the local speedway and put some cam2 110 octane leaded racing fuel in it (I don't have a cat anyway) and I figured this would help resist detonation. So my question is until I get a means of retarding the timing (new box), would this be safe to drive around? My S is my daily driver and only car so I need to get around.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.

the effects could be that pulling 3 degrees of timing isn't enough, you detonate like crazy and lose your motor. I would resist temtation to boost to be on the safe side if I were you. You're probably ok, but why risk it.

Yeah, you can drive it around town as much as you want. I personally wouldn't risk boosting until you get the new box...even if 110 octane (or 120 for that matter) was safe enough. Is it worth it for a couple pulls?
