Default DIY- Reversing Pins For Aeromotive 340LPH Fuel Pump

This is a very simple DIY but in another thread that I was reading many members had no clue how to do it. This DIY is for reversing the two pins that go to the fuel pump. This diy can be applied to any fuel pump that requires the pins be switched but I specifically needed to do this for my Aeromotive 340lph. Please check the specifications of your fuel pump before you do this because you might not have to.

This first picture shows the fuel pump sending unit with the stock fuel pump removed.

Step 1. Remove the stock fuel pump harness by first pressing down on this black pin then pulling it down.

Step 2. Next press on this part of the connector then pull it down.

This picture shows that the pins need to be switched. The black ground wire is in the positive terminal of the fuel pump and vice versa for the yellow positive wire.

Step 3. With a small flat head remove this orange terminal piece by gently prying against it and the black connector.

Step 4. Gently slide a small flat head in this section and try to wiggle the wire out. DO NOT use excessive force. It should slide right out if your putting the flat head in the correct spot.

Step 5. Once you have both wires removed.... switch them and put the orange piece back in. Then just reinstall the harness.

FYI, you don't need to do this with the current 11142 Aeromotive pumps. Just drop it in and go.

Any permanent damage if you try to run it before polarity switched?

Try and plug the connector on the fuel pump...if you see that the black wire leads to the positive + terminal on the fuel pump... they need to be switched.

I read on another thread that someone forgot to do this and was loosing fuel pressure at high rpms. He switched the wires and the pump worked flawlessly.

I was told when I bought mine that the polarity needed to be switched...found out the hard way that I had one of the new Aeromotive pumps that was plug and play.

There was no fuel pressure when the pump was hooked up incorrectly, car would just turn over but not start.

I dropped in the new AEM 320 from SOS straight into the stock hanger with the stock harness. The pump works flawlessly on my stockish car right now.
