Diff/Trans reliability for 500whp ?
Know this has been discussed in various random threads and not listed on power chart:
For a DD, how reliable are the stock diff/trans for 500whp ?
How many people have had to replace diff, trans or both for DD basis ?
Do you have to baby it for fear of breaking them or can you push it pretty good ?

You can pretty much get the idea when searching. A lot of people have blown second gear making anywhere from 400-500whp. Some have kept both in tact. It depends on how you rag on it and how hard you push it through 1-2 gears. The diff is weak and breaks from shock. So if you launch hard or don't preload the transmission it will blow. Both elements are weak and they don't hold well at power levels that high. That given you can be lucky and baby it for the most part and be ok. Thats what I have gathered. As you stated if you looked it up you would be able to gather that info already. Not much else to it.

It’s the trq that really does it, and how abrupt your drivetrain receives it. I think it’s safe to say that most typical turbo set ups at the 500whp level are going to be harder on the drivetrain then an sc due to the typically higher trq levels per same hp level, and the more abrupt delivery of it.

Yep, run it till it breaks and then replace and do all over again. Been playing that game for years at less then 400whp sc. Still cheaper then any of the alternatives out there so far, at least for the trans. Just a hassle.
